In the Superior Court of California, Sacramento County, plaintiffs William F. Molina and Donna Goles have filed a wrongful death/survival lawsuit against defendants Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity - Chapter, California State University at Sacramento, Paul R. Cavallero, Zachary Flores, and Does 1 through 100 (Case No. 34-20207002789), on May 19, 2020. The plaintiffs are represented by Joseph J. Babich of Dreyer Babich Buccola Wood Campora, LLP and seek damages exceeding $25,000.
The suit alleges that the plaintiffs' son, William Alexander Molina (decedent), tragically died at the age of 21 while attending an off-campus fraternity function at the defendant Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity house located at 2611 Lycoming Court, Sacramento. The property was owned by defendant Paul R. Cavallero and occupied by individual defendant Zachary Flores and the fraternity.
The decedent died on April 12, 2019. The parents claim that Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity Inc., headquartered in Memphis Tennessee with numerous chapters nationwide including one at California State University at Sacramento where their son was a member, retained significant control over its local chapter's activities.
The plaintiffs are seeking judgment for wrongful death/survival and damages exceeding $25,000.
